Welcome to Laurel Valley November 2026 newsletter!

Nestled deep in the heart of South Louisiana’s Bayou Region, Laurel Valley Village stands as a living monument along the banks of Bayou Lafourche. Our grounds offer more than just a view of the past—they provide a connection to the Acadian, Creole, and immigrant cultures that shaped the spirit of the bayou.

Whether you are drawn by the rustle of the sugarcane fields, the rustic charm of our 60+ original historic structures, or the stories etched into the walls of the Laurel Valley General Store, there is always something new to discover.

A Season of Gratitude & Preservation

As the autumn air cools the banks of Bayou Lafourche and November brings us into the season of Thanksgiving, all of us at Laurel Valley Plantation take a moment to reflect on what makes this historical treasure so extraordinary.

Above all, we are deeply grateful for you—our dedicated community, local partners, visitors, and volunteers. Your continued support allows us to maintain, restore, and honor the rich history embedded in these historic grounds and sugar village. Preserving our history is a shared responsibility, and every visit, event, and contribution ensures these stories live on for generations to come.

November Events & Gatherings

  • Thursday Farmers & Artisans Markets:

  • When: Every Thursday in November from 2- 6pm.

Preservation Spotlight: Keeping History Alive

Preserving one of the nation's largest surviving 19th-century sugar plantation complexes takes constant care and dedication. This month, our preservation focus centers on:

Structure & Grounds Care: Ongoing repairs and stabilization to protect our historic buildings from seasonal weather.

Educational Archiving: Documenting local stories, agricultural heritage, and historic artifacts to share with guests and school groups

"To preserve history is to give a gift to the future—ensuring that the lessons, culture, and resilience of those who came before us are never forgotten."
